PIFR Theory Session
When: Saturday, 21st December 1300
Where: Classroom 3 Royal Aero Club
The PIFR (private IFR) is fast becoming the new night rating in the sense that private pilots are undertaking it for a new challenge and more importantly, to upskill and make themselves a safer pilot.
It’s not a ticket to plough into the abyss, but simply a rating that allows you to fly on instruments in those days where VMC is not possible and we know it can be even more frustrating when the destination is CAVOK. Many of you have come to me over the last 12 months wanting to do it but just not having the time to dedicate to it to get the exam done to begin the training.
As there is no set course for it I’m going to set an afternoon aside on Saturday 21st of December to have a theory session with anybody wanting to give this ago. We’ll kick off at 1300 and I won’t set an end time to it, we’ll go through and answer any and all questions you have or concepts you don’t understand from the course material. So with that it means you have to read the study guides first, this isn’t a course to be delivered from scratch but more I’ll go through whatever you guys want to cover to get you across the line so you’ve got up until the 21st to get reading.
