Kangaroo Island Fly Away

5 - 12 September 2022

Royal Aero Club of WA (RACWA) is organising a fly away to Kangaroo Island, South Australia to be held September 2022. We are extending an invitation to all RACWA members and other interested pilots to participate in what promises to be an exciting, fun event.

Kangaroo Island is Australia’s third largest Island and sits off the coast of South Australia. It is separated from the mainland by a 15 km stretch of ocean.

Best known to be a 'Zoo without Fences', wildlife encounters including Kangaroos, Sea lions, Koalas, Echidnas, Wallabies, Goannas, and marine mammals along with many species of birdlife are a given. Beaches will astound you, fishing is world renowned, and you can enjoy great food and wine with spectacular walks and hikes to burn off the extra calories.

We are currently doing the detail planning including finalising the route, accommodation options and the numerous social activities available for participants. Details will be made available in due course but currently we envisage departing 5 September 2022 with the route being Jandakot – Kalgoorlie – Forrest – Ceduna – Kingscote. We currently anticipate a 4-night stopover at Kangaroo Island with possible overnights in Kalgoorlie and Forrest. We will be planning a return leg, possibly via Esperance but are leaving this flexible for pilots to extend their stays etc.

Accommodation is a limiting factor and therefore it is important you register as soon as possible as accommodation will be allocated on a first come basis. Registration also ensures you will receive the latest updates via email.
